My first trip to Sorsogon

My trip to Sorsogon was short but a success. Thank God, we both woke up early enough to get there in time.  The van driver I hired thanks to him drove nicely…It was my first time in Sorsogon and surprised to see so many trees and lots of nature.

Sorsogon is a province of the Philippines located in the Bicol Region; it is the southernmost province in Luzon. Perhaps every traveler to Sorsogon City will have heard of whale shark diving when they hear the name of the city. The place to go whale shark diving is in the nearby town of Donsol, which has been dubbed as a whale shark capital. Locally known as butanding, these gentle whale sharks can be seen from October to December as they come to feed on krill and plankton.

Will be back next month..On my free time, thinking of stopping by another tourist attraction in Sorsogon name Bulusan Lake…getting there is a trek but all is fine. If I need to ride a carabao, will ride one…No kidding!

Beautiful pictures, Jenny! My husband told me how lovely Sorsogon is but never really took that seriously then when I was still in the Philippines and can simply just take the bus. He was there on a project to do hazard-mapping of Mt. Bulusan and so has explored every nook and corner of the area. He even at one time climb the volcano headed to the crater but it was so wet and humid and was bitten by hundreds of leeches. He loved the tranquility in the place and the unspoiled nature. He loved the markets there but his colleagues then from Philvolcs did not want him joining then when they were buying stuffs in the market because he surely caused immediate inflation. 😉

    1. Hi Malou,

Oh wow, what a coincidence! I was there for not long but what I saw was nothing but nature. Undeveloped land..saw nothing but trees..I hope it remains that way…Living in Manila seeing nature is a rarity…Will be back in two weeks but will go straight to Sorsogon not in Legaspi. Will blog about the beauty of Sorsogon in the near future…I do not mind living half the time in the province, just give me a road bike..I will be a happy camper.

I am glad you you liked this post.

      All the best, Jenny

    1. Thank you so much..That was a very short trip. I was under timed constrain. Only hired the driver a couple of hours so if we ventured out, it will cost me a lot. I will be back but will stay in Sorsogon instead of Legaspi.
