Living in the present moment quotes #2

Will you hear the call

Will you hear the call
and pick up your drum,
or will you settle back
into the easy chair of your old life,
content just looking out the window?

Get up and walk outside into the grass.
Leave behind the porch of this life,
the house of the ego.
Call to the spirits; call loudly
from your heart.
Sing out your soul’s song,
which thrashes against your ribcage
for release.

There is bliss,
there with the spirits,
free from the body
and from this earthly pain.
There is perennial compassion
in the redtail’s wings or the wolf’s howl
and with this you can return to the world
heart spun open, hands outstretched
bathing those who suffer in light.

This is your birthright from the beginning.
Claim it. Get up.

If you are stuck, listen up…

Truly inspiring….An Invocation for beginnings

Live & Learn

Inspiring.  Catchy thump, thump, thump rhythmic cadence.  Hypnotic.  Worthy 3 minute clip.  A few of my favorite excerpts.

“This is an invocation for anyone who hasn’t begun to start, who is stuck between 0 and 1”

“Let me think about the people I care about the most.  Like when they fail or disappoint me, I still love them, I still give them chances, and I still see the best in them.  Let me extend the same generosity to myself.

“If I catch myself wearing a tutu – 2FAT, 2LATE, 2OLD, let me shake it off like…”

“Let me be not so vain to think that I am the sole author of my victories and a victim of my defeats…”

“Let me remember that the unintended meaning that people project on to what I do is neither my fault or something I can take credit for.”

“Let me not think of…

Don’t Give Up ~poem by Mario Benedetti

DON’T GIVE UP

Don’t give up, you still have time
to reach up and start anew,
Accept your shadows,
Bury your fears,
Free your burdens,
Fly again.

Don’t give up, that’s what life is
Continue the journey,
Follow your dreams,
Unstuck time,
Move the rubble,
And uncover the sky.

Don’t give up, please don’t give way,
Even if the cold burns,
Even if fear bites,
Even if the sun sets,
And the wind goes silent,
There is still fire in your soul
There is still life in your dreams.

Because life is yours and yours is the desire
Because you have loved it and because I love you
Because wine exists and love is true.
Because there are no wounds that time doesn’t cure.

To open the doors,
Take away the locks,
Abandon the walls that have protected you,
To live life and accept the challenge
Get back laughter,
Practice a song,
Lower the guard and extend the hands
Open the wings
And try again,
Celebrate life and take back the skies.

Don’t give up, please don’t give way,
Even if the cold burns,
Even if fear bites,
Even if the sun sets,
And the wind goes silent,
There is still fire in your soul
There is still life in your dreams.

Because every day is a new beginning,
Because this is the hour and the best moment.
Because you are not alone, because I love you.

I Will Stand Tall

Image

I Will Stand Tall
Amanda Kiser

As I stand alone
walls on all sides
On the hardness and trials
I will stand tall
as tall as I might,
for all of my
humble little life.
Til the world tramples me,
and I am no more,
I will stand tall
as tall as I might.
Always reaching for the sun.
Even though all around
is brokenness and pain
I’ll lend my brief beauty
and stand tall
as tall as I might.

The Don’t Quit Poem

Many times in life, we are faced with blows and obstacles that can be unbearable sometimes. We should never never quit and give up as you can never tell how close you are with your goals. You just have to experience this blow to get where you are. Life has many great surprises!

This is a poem that has been inspiring a lot of people for many years. Sadly, no one knows for certain who wrote it, but the message is so simple it is profound to think about the impact that it has had on so many including me. The author received no fame, no fortune, and no credit. The writer just penned these words and left them for all humanity to think about.

Photographer: Me

Here is the original poem in it’s entirety:

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.
